The TUFF train scheduler Two duration trip scheduling on multi directional track networks

چکیده
This work describes a constraint model for scheduling train trips on a network of tracks used in both directions. We argue that a generalization of a job-shop scheduling formulation can drastically decrease the problem size. Preliminary complexity and performance results and a set of examples of schedules generated by our implementation are presented. The system was implemented in the Oz programming system and some experiences and opinions on this choice are noted in the paper.

Trip scheduling on single track networks - the TUFF train scheduler
A novel constraint model for scheduling train trips on a network of tracks used in both directions is described. We argue that a generalization of a job-shop scheduling formulation can drastically decrease the problem size. Preliminary complexity and performance results and a set of examples of schedules generated by our implementation are presented.
متن کاملA discrete-event optimization framework for mixed-speed train timetabling problem
Railway scheduling is a complex task of rail operators that involves the generation of a conflict-free train timetable. This paper presents a discrete-event simulation-based optimization approach for solving the train timetabling problem to minimize total weighted unplanned stop time in a hybrid single and double track railway networks. The designed simulation model is used as a platform for ge...
متن کاملA Job-Shop Scheduling Model for the Single-Track Railway Scheduling Problem
The Single-Track Railway Scheduling Problem can be modelled as a special case of the Job-Shop Scheduling Problem. This can be achieved by considering the train trips as jobs, which will be scheduled on tracks regarded as resources. A train trip may have many tasks that consist of traversing from one point to another on a track. Each of these distinct points can be a station or a signal placed a...
متن کاملEffects of track characteristics on dynamic responses of train-bridge systems
High speed trains are an indispensable part of rapid transportation systems in many countries. As the fastest means of transport on the ground, these trains are extremely sensitive to the terrain and track conditions. Geometrical irregularities and mechanical characteristics of the track, together with inconsistencies in the lane (including bridges that support the track) are considered importa...
متن کاملPeriodic Railway Timetabling with Event Flexibility
Abstract. This paper addresses the problem of generating conflict-free periodic train timetables for large railway networks. We follow a two level approach, where a simplified track topology is used to obtain a macro-level schedule, and the detailed topology is considered locally on the micro level. To increase the solution space in the interface of the two levels, we propose an extension of th...
